WEEK 10 - HARLAN IND & “THE BIG PUSH”

The Legendary Coach Vince Lombardi used to talk about “The BigPush.”  It was a time late in the season, when the regular season was wrapping up, and the playoff “push” was about to begin. Here in Cardinal Land, it is time for “The Big Push.”  

The final regular season game is this Friday, against the Harlan “Green Dragons.”  The very next Friday night, the playoffs begin. The “Big Push” is underway.  The Green Dragons of Harlan are a very athletic team, that has been up and down this season. They have qualified for the playoffs in their division, and at 2-7, will come into Gilliam Stadium looking to pull a big upset. We need to play our ”A” game. Not just because it’s a home game, and not just because it’s the last game of the regular season,  But because its a chance at our 6th win, and, this is the start of our “Big Push.” 

The “Big Push” is the time that our standard of play needs to be set in stone. We need to be clicking on all cylinders. Defensively, special teams, and offensively. We can’t afford to have a letdown, and play a poor game in the playoffs.   We want our game against Harlan to have a playoff atmosphere. We are approaching it as a playoff game. There is no more time for making mistakes that we made earlier in the season. In the playoffs, just a few simple mistakes can end our season. 

Come on out to Gilliam Stadium and enjoy a nice night of South Laurel “Cardinals” Football this Friday, as we take on the Harlan “Green Dragons,” and begin “The Big Push.” ..
