WEEK 6 - PULASKI COUNTY

Cardinal fans….

It’s always good to win the Homecoming game. There are lots of fans that come to that game that haven’t been to a game all season, and of course, several former players and graduates all come back to see the team play. It was a fun night last Friday night at Gilliam Stadium. Congratulations to the Homecoming, Queen, and all the court, and everybody that was involved in all the festivities, and congratulations to our players of the game. Offense, junior WR Garrison Brown, and on defense, Junior OLB Liam Newton.  The “Hammer Award” was claimed by freshman DL Gage Baker….

But now, we are at a different juncture of football season.

Now, it’s district time. Football is different from all the other sports in high school. In all other sports, you could be winless on the season, and still make it into the end-of-the-season tournament. Not so in football. You have to earn your way into the playoffs, by beating teams within your district. This week starts our district schedule. Pulaski County, North Laurel, Harlan County, and Southwestern, are probably the best teams on our schedule. If we want to be in the playoffs, we have to win  district games. and we will probably be the “underdog” in all those games

Lets get our “Upset” motor running. it’s time for the Cardinals to win some games that they’re not supposed to win. Make plans to be with us in Gilliam Stadium, Friday night, as the “Maroons” of Pulaski County make the trip over to South Laurel High School. District opponent number one. Let’s go hunt……
