WEEK 8 - HARLAN COUNTY

 “…Sunday Morning, Coming Down….”

With all due respect to the late Kris Kristofferson, (R.I.P.) one of the great lessons a young team can learn is how to come down off their high horse after winning a big game. The win over North Laurel was a huge boost to our program. It was a tremendous boost to our players, our coaches, our school, our community, and everybody associated with South Laurel football.  (Wear your Cardinal gear with a little more pride for the next year!)

The win over North Laurel was also a district victory, which puts us in prime position to make the playoffs at the end of the season. But this week’s opponent, the “Black Bears“ of Harlan County, means just as much.

In a lot of ways, it’s equally as hard to come back down to earth to prepare for the next opponent after a big win, as it is to prepare for the next opponent after a terrible loss.  Harlan County is a very tough opponent, and we must approach the week of preparation with great intensity and desire to improve, if we are gonna have a chance at a win at Harlan County.  However, a win would ensure us a strong playoff position, something that hasn’t happened to South Laurel in quite a while. It’s all very exciting.

Make plans to join us on the trip down through the mountains Friday, to “Coal Miner’s Stadium.” and let’s go #Hunt…..
