SEASON FINALE
Only one team finishes their season on a positive note. Only the team that wins the State Championship, finishes the season with a lot of happiness. Everyone else finishes with a loss, and it’s devastation. Everything you’ve worked for and built during the course of the football season, all of a sudden comes to a screeching halt.
it’s especially painful for the seniors on the team, who all of a sudden realize that they will never play high school football again. Something that they love so dearly has come to an end. Jose’ Puledo, Noah Smith, Braylon Sizemore. & James Cox (Seniors) have all left their mark on this program. Their legacy will be “The Cornerstone.” This team has left a building block for all future South Laurel Cardinals teams to build upon.
I want to say a personal “Thank You,” to all of the assistant coaches. Evan Napier, PJ Warren, Nick Herrmann, Nick Broughton, Mike Lovitt, and Tim Roark. I also really appreciate our scouting department. Coach Tom Greer, and former coach Wayne Napier. I want to thank all the members of the middle school coaching staff for their support and help throughout the course of the season, especially Neil Warren and all that he does for our program.
I want to thank our administration for the support that we have for a football program here at South Laurel High. Principal, Dr. Jeremy Kidd, and AD, and former football coach Jep Irwin, as well as all the faculty and staff, and all the members of the South Laurel Touchdown Club. The Cardinal Crazies, Cheerleaders, The Band and everybody that came to a game. It’s been a fun ride.
We believe the future at South Laurel is extremely bright. And as one season ends, the new one is right around the corner. It’s time to focus on 2025, and the first step, is Strength and Conditioning development.
So as we, put away equipment, clean out lockers, conduct exit meetings, and put the finishing touches on 2024, we can’t help but sneak a peek and look at 2025….. And prepare to #Hunt.
