“….2025…”

 It’s the time when everyone has “New Year’s Resolutions.”  As we consider the things that 2025 will bring, I thought we’d take a poetic look at the year ahead. It’s the 56th Season of varsity football at South Laurel (formerly Laurel County) High, and “We’re Coming…..”

2025

As we open our eyes,

To the sun in the skies,

We realize with a new year comes new fun,

Days of sunshine, days of raining,

It’s time for “off-season” training,

As #Team56 has begun.

As this new day dawns,

We wake up with yawns,

And wonder what 2025 will bring,

Just know it won’t be long,

Till we’re singing a familiar song,

Cause SL’s got practice in the spring.

As the dreams and the goals,

Of a new year & team unfolds,

The Weight Room is where we’ll be found,

Repetitions are repeated,

‘Cause we’re all undefeated,

Until the “Blakely Bowl” comes around.

Summer practice means training camp,

As we will try to revamp,

Some greatness never seen before,

With pre-dawn conditioning,

We’ll prepare for positioning,

For victories, playoffs, and more.

The season starts in the fall,

Catch, run, and pass that ball,

As our plans lock us in like a fix,

Lest they be no surprises,

When that “Bad Moon” rises,

On dear Ole #Team56

Cardinals lets prepare,

For the chilly fall air,

When taking the field man by man,

We’ll remember the thought,

As victories are sought,

That “Everybody has a plan…..”

Can’t hardly wait……
