DEAD PERIOD

Cardinals,

DEAD PERIOD. This is the time when everybody goes away from football. Vacations, trips to see family, church activities, etc. All these things are wonderful, but for the football players, it’s a short summer. Once the DEAD PERIOD concludes, “Training Camp” opens all over the country. The NFL calls their players in for Training Camp. College football teams begin their summer practices. And all over the state of Kentucky, high school football gets underway. It’s an exciting time at South Laurel. Everybody’s undefeated.

Since we arrived in January, we have found the team to be a joy to coach. All the hard work they have put in, in the Off-Season Program, in the weight room, Speed Training Sessions, spring football practice, Champions Club Competition, and all the things they’ve been involved in, have started to show. The players work hard, have a great attitude, and really have a strong desire to be successful. They’re willing to do what it takes. 

Our Number 1 priority for this Training Camp will be our team Creed for the season.  (Which is) #HUNT. There are two types of teams in a typical football game. One team is ”the hunter,” and one is “the hunted.” We will never ever be “the hunted.” There is a mindset once you come out of the locker room on Friday night, that says,

A) “I hope we win tonight,…. “ 

Or…..

B)  ”We are gonna kick their John Wayne Hind Parts, and there’s nothing they can do about it.“

I can’t wait to get started on July 15. It’s ”Hunting” season Cardinals.
